How do I run church slides with no one in the booth?

The slides volunteer is on vacation. The backup is sick. It is 10:25. How small churches handle it, and how to stop needing a plan B.

ServantSync is $29/mo per computer after a 14-day free trial. Writing stays free.

The short answer

You have three options. Run slides yourself with a clicker, which works until your notes and slides drift apart. Skip slides that Sunday. Or let your sermon notes drive the slides: with ServantSuite you preach from a phone or tablet, and ServantSync fires each ProPresenter slide as you reach it. Nobody has to sit in the booth. ServantSync is $29 a month or $299 a year per media computer.

“Can you just click it from up there?”

The usual workarounds

Most small churches have tried these. A clicker in the pulpit works until your notes and slides drift apart, and you are clicking past a point you skipped. Skipping slides works once, but the visitor who needed to see the verse misses it. Asking the worship leader to run slides between songs splits their attention.

None of these are failures. They are what happens when Sunday depends on who shows up.

Let the sermon run the slides

ServantSync is a small app on your media computer. Map each point and verse to its ProPresenter slide once. Then preach from your phone or tablet. As you move through your notes, the matching slide goes up.

Read ahead as far as you like. Nothing fires until you move.

  • Auto-match pairs notes and slides
  • Your clicker moves notes and slides together
  • Rehearse with Live off. Nothing fires.

“Every head bowed.”

One press for the big moments

Mark a closing or a prayer and it can clear the screen, lower the house lights and cue the keys together. Make it a default and every closing lands the same way.

If someone is in the booth

Nothing changes for them. They see what is on screen and who is driving, and ProPresenter still works by hand. The difference is that Sunday no longer depends on them being there. They can take the vacation.

Honest fit

Is ServantSuite right for you?

A good fit if

  • Your church runs ProPresenter 7.9 or later
  • The booth is empty some Sundays
  • You preach from notes on a phone or tablet, or want to
  • You want volunteers to serve without being stuck in the booth

Look elsewhere if

  • You use EasyWorship, ProClaim, PowerPoint or Keynote. ServantSync doesn't drive them today.
  • You need lyrics to follow the band. ServantSync follows the sermon, not the music.
  • You don't want a paid app on the media computer. Writing and preaching are free; this part is $29 a month.

FAQ

Questions pastors ask.

Do I need anyone in the booth at all?

Not for the sermon. Someone still needs to turn on the computer and projector, and your worship set runs the way it does today.

What if I skip a point or go off script?

Jump ahead in your notes and the slides jump with you. Reading ahead without moving fires nothing.

Does it work with EasyWorship?

Not today. ServantSync drives ProPresenter, OSC lighting and HTTP devices.

Can I try it before a real Sunday?

Yes. Turn Live off and preach mode becomes a rehearsal. The 14-day trial covers two Sundays.

Can a guest preacher drive it?

Yes. Hosts and guest preachers can drive it from their own phone or tablet.

Try it this Sunday.

Free forever, for every pastor. No sermon limit, no card.
