Guide · Writing the sermon

Is there sermon software that doesn't write the sermon for me?

The study, the prayer and the words are yours. Software should keep them organized and get them to Sunday.

The short answer

Yes. ServantSuite never writes, suggests or rewrites sermon text. You write every word. AI is used in one place: when you import a Word file, it tags your existing paragraphs as points, sub-points and notes so you don't have to. Your sermons are never used to train AI. To skip AI entirely, paste your sermon in instead of importing it.

Why pastors ask

A sermon comes out of a week of study and prayer for a particular people. Many pastors want help with the logistics, not the words. Others are glad to use AI for research but want the manuscript to be theirs.

Both are reasonable. What matters is knowing exactly where a tool uses AI.

Where ServantSuite uses AI

One place: Word import. When you import a .docx file, the text goes to Anthropic's Claude model, which marks which paragraphs are points, sub-points and notes. It doesn't change a word, and the text isn't used for training.

Everything else runs on plain rules: typing / for a block, highlighting a line to make it a point, spotting a verse reference, cleaning up pasted text.

  • No AI drafts, outlines or illustrations
  • No rewrite or tone buttons
  • Paste instead of importing to skip AI entirely

Where AI is used

  • Writes or drafts your sermon
  • Suggests or rewrites sentences
  • Trains on your sermons
  • Tags points in an imported Word file

Paste instead of importing and no AI is used at all.

What it does instead

Structure as you type. Scripture in place. A library you can search. Preach mode on your phone. Slides and lights that follow you on Sunday. The tools a pastor uses around the words, not in place of them.

If you do want AI help

That is a fair choice too. Some sermon tools are built around AI drafting and research. Our side-by-side chart shows how each one uses AI, from their own sites.

Honest fit

Is ServantSuite right for you?

A good fit if

  • You write your own sermons and want them to stay yours
  • You want to know exactly where AI touches your work
  • You want structure and scripture without suggestions

Look elsewhere if

  • You want AI to draft outlines or illustrations. Pick a tool built for that.
  • You want no AI anywhere, import included, and won't paste. SermonForm describes itself as built without AI.

FAQ

Questions pastors ask.

Does ServantSuite use ChatGPT?

No. The one AI step, tagging imported Word files, uses Anthropic's Claude. It never writes text.

Is my sermon used to train AI?

No. Not by us, and not by the AI provider that tags imports.

Can I avoid AI completely?

Yes. Paste your sermon in instead of importing the file. Pasting uses no AI.

Who can see my sermons?

You, the people you invite to your church's workspace and anyone you share a sermon with. Sermons are never public and never sold.

Is it free?

Yes. Writing and preaching are free forever.
